CPR Instructor Development Course OverviewAttentive Safety CPR and Safety Training offers the CPR Instructor Development Course for individuals wanting to train others as authorized Instructors for American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) branded emergency care training programs.
The minimum prerequisites for taking the CPR Instructor Development Course are: • Current provider certification in layperson adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid, and/or • Demonstrated competency in layperson adult, child, and infant CPR, AED, and first aid skill objectives The minimum recommended age to take the CPR Instructor Development Course is 17. Maturity, responsibility, and classroom presence should always be considered, regardless of age. The goal of the CPR Instructor Development Course is to help candidates develop a solid foundation on which to begin training others CPR Instructor Development Course StructureThe CPR Instructor Development Course is a blended course. Blended learning begins with online training to cover the cognitive knowledge of the course, followed by a face-to-face session with an Instructor Trainer for hands-on instructional skill practice and evaluation.
Blended Learning Blended learning combines the convenience of online learning with face-to-face, in-class skill practice and evaluation by an authorized Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training Instructor Trainer. Online Portion The online portion of a blended CPR Instructor Development Course covers the essential cognitive content using text, still images, and interactive exercises. When a candidate successfully completes the online portion of the course, a Recognition of Completion certificate will be made available to the candidate for printing and the completion will be recorded within Otis. Successful completion of the online portion is required to attend the face-to-face portion of the course for instructional skills practice and evaluation with an Attentive Safety CPR and Safety Training Instructor Trainer. Written Exam The required CPR Instructor Development Course written exam is included in the online portion of the CPR Instructor Development Course. Instructor candidates must get a passing score of at least 76%, or at least 46 correct questions out of 60 to successfully complete the online portion of the CPR Instructor Development Course and become eligible to attend the face-to-face portion. Face-to-Face Portion The face-to-face portion of the blended CPR Instructor Development Course focuses on the development of competent instructional skills through hands-on practice. Required candidate practices of the face-to-face portion are: • Facilitating a program lesson • Performing a skill demonstration • Conducting a small group practice • Conducting a scenario practice • Conducting a performance evaluation |
